19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player won his first trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a former world number one, has experienced a difficult year, winning just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-term mentor Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's first title following the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt from that period of that year.

The win also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at 21 different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive approach and regular reactions on the tennis court had prompted commentators to doubt if his capacity to compete at the elite level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his initial professional victory, took control to create a decider.

Moutet saved four initial opportunities in a tight final set before the Russian broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned the win with a point at the net, with his opponent unable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
